New Hotline Launches To Help Australians Under Stress.

We all struggle with life at times...
Sometimes we are overwhelmed, sometimes we are lonely, sometimes we just need to talk to a real person about something really important.

Earlier this month, Chaplaincy Australia launched 1800Chaplain; a nationwide toll-free service offering confidential chaplaincy support to all Australians.

With lifesaving crisis helplines receiving unprecedented call volumes, 1800Chaplain fills a growing need for early intervention and preventative pastoral care before the person experiences suicidal ideation.

“The mental stress on individuals and families during the past two years has become a crisis situation for our nation,” said Ralph Estherby, CEO of Chaplaincy Australia. “The life-saving work of Lifeline and other mental health helplines has been stretched during this season, and we believe we can fill the gap by offering earlier intervention before a person experiences suicidal ideation.”

The helpline is a safe and confidential forum. It takes a holistic view of the person’s emotions, stressors, challenges and moral dilemmas, where they need not shy away from deeper questions about their life, their relationships, their faith or their sense of purpose. Trained and accredited chaplains are helping callers find support, comfort, reassurance and, where needed, referral to other services.
